Scott was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where he grew up around the corner from the girl he would take to the Senior Prom and later marry. He and Martha have been married over 30 years and have five children, including two given to them through the blessing of adoption, two daughters by marriage, and one ADORABLE granddaughter!
After graduating from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Music degree, Scott went on to earn a Master of Music degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is currently a candidate for a Ph.D. in Leadership through Trinity Seminary.
Scott began his full time ministry experience in Abbeville, Alabama, serving as Youth and Music Pastor, until the Lord brought his family to Oklahoma where he served 8 1/2 years as Worship Pastor at Angus Acres Baptist Church in Sand Springs. He has also served in various capacities at Evergreen, beginning here as Children’s Pastor, before moving to Worship Pastor, with a recent shift toward administration.
If Scott could, he would convince everyone of the importance of relationship over religion, people over programs, and worship as a lifestyle.
Scott stays very busy meeting the needs of his family, but enjoys down-time cooking and kicking back to watch a good TV show. Given the opportunity, “How It’s Made” would be a top choice. (Martha and the kids, however, conspire against him!). Ideally, Scott and Martha would travel far and wide and often. They are thankful to have traveled to South Korea several times and hope to add more mission trips to their future agendas.
Some might not know that Scott is a diligent early morning runner and that he earned a Black Belt in TaeKwon Do at the age of 45.
