Michael was born and raised right here in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He met his wife Diane at Oklahoma Baptist University and they have 3 children, including one son-in-law, and an amazing grandson. (He will gladly share pictures!)
Michael has a B.A. in Church Business Administration from Oklahoma Baptist University, a Masters of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Church History, also from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. (Minors include Philosophy, Preaching and Missions)
His diverse experience includes serving as the Homiletical Research Assistant at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas; Pastor at First Baptist Church in Throckmorton; Texas. Associate Pastor at First Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas; Senior Pastor at Woodland Acres Baptist Church in Tulsa. Michael is the founding pastor of Evergreen Baptist Church.
Michael is deeply committed to interesting and accurate teaching of the Word of God. He is passionate about personal and corporate involvement in global missions. And he is devoted to growing and maturing the people of Evergreen to increase our Kingdom impact in this generation.
He finds enjoyment in reading, movies, Words with Friends, coffee and, most importantly,…baseball! He is a serious fan of J.R.R. Tolkein, Randy Alcorn, and Stephen Lawhead. But even lesser-known information about Michael might include that he is an Award-winning pie baker, played the cello in high school, is a lover of Bugs Bunny cartoons, and he can quote the entire soundtrack of Disney’s “The Jungle Book.”
