Jerry was born and raised in Halfway, Missouri and is still a farm boy at heart. He and his wife Linda have one daughter and son-in-law, and four granddaughters.
Jerry holds degrees from Southwest Baptist College and Southwest Missouri State College. He served in the US Army, including service in Vietnam. He went on to dedicate 32 years working for Standard Oil/Pan American Petroleum/AMOCO as a programmer, systems analyst and project manager. He gained church training in Glorieta, Ridgecrest, Nashville, Tulsa Metro and the BGCO, as well as OJT.
Jerry was baptized as a Believer in a cold creek, one very cold November, at the age of 12. He served as a Sunday School Director at Riverside Baptist Church in Tulsa and then as a 9th Grade boys’ teacher and then Sunday School Director at Woodland Acres Baptist Church before participating in the launch of Evergreen, where his diverse and vast experience has helped build not only a strong church, but a literal church building foundation!
His passions are centered on serving and leading others to serve, keeping Jesus and the Cross as the focus, and encouraging others to do the same.
Jerry and his two brothers own their family farm in Missouri and he and Linda love to spend time there. His love for antique tractors and tractor shows are a hobby which keeps him connected to his brothers. He is interested in guns, likes reading, watching TV and movies. He likes yard work, camping, water skiing, computer games, fixing things…. He’s a handy man!
Some would be surprised to know that Jerry is 1/4 French!
