Jerry was born in Oklahoma City. He is married to colleague, Nikki Boyd—a romance which began well before their roles at Evergreen. They have two sons, Jackson and J.T., and a dog named Sam.
Jerry earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and his Master of Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also has training through LINC Ministry and the BGCO.
Though Jerry’s ministry experience is steeped in music and worship ministry, having served in these roles at several churches, he has followed the Lord’s leading toward more pastoral care, specifically working with senior adults.
Jerry finds joy in leading worship and in helping people recognize their gifts and talents for ministry and service. He also desires to help adults realize that the second half of their lives can be greater, if not even more exciting, than the first half. But three of of his greatest joys are his wife and two boys.
Free time, should it become available, allows Jerry to enjoy some of his hobbies, such as fishing, golf, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and watching Food Network. And once upon a time, Jerry even ventured into the sport of “noodling” (catching catfish—with his bare hands)!
